Master of Science in Geospatial Information Systems and Remote Sensing

The Programme

The Master of Science programme in GIS&RS will prepare students for scholarly research and professional careers in geospatial information science and remote sensing for the industry and training institutions that require high degree of innovativeness, scholarship, research and development. In addition, it will promote appropriate technologies for GIS and remote sensing geared towards providing efficient solutions for national development. The programme is designed to support in the implementation of the SDGs, Africas Agenda 2063, Kenya’s Constitution as well as support national development by addressing the social and economic pillars of the Vision 2030.

Goal of the Programme

The goal of the Master of Science programme in GIS&RS is to produce a professional who has skills in research, analytics, innovation and knowledge creation in geospatial information science and remote sensing, geospatial technologies and related applications, and develop novel solutions in spatial and related disciplines. The skills acquired by the Geospatial Information System and Remote sensing professional will be geared towards national development.

Entry Requirements.

  1. A holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics and Geospatial information systems, Geospatial Information Science and Remote Sensing, or its equivalent  of DeKUT or any other institution recognised by the university senate:
    1. At least an upper second class honors or a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00;
    1. Lower second class honors or a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 on a scale of 4.00 with additional relevant training, evidence of research capability either through research, paper presentations or peer reviewed publications and relevant working experience of at least 2 years.
